Us Londoners are a hardy bunch when it comes to al fresco frivolity. We’ll brace most climates for the sake of an outdoor drink, provided there’s no actual monsoon or blizzard. As we edge towards summer, any venue with a decent bit of outdoor space is set to be a magnet for merry makers. Allow us to introduce No.3 at Smiths, the rooftop restaurant and terrace at Smiths of Smithfield.
Fine dining with a fabulous view!

Smiths of Smithfield has long been a local favourite. An iconic grade II listed building which houses a ground floor café bar, a grill for the meat lovers, a stylish cocktail bar and No.3, its top floor dining terrace. We took the lift all the way and as the doors opened, we were greeted by a beautiful space brimming with party potential. The long room is bright and airy from the huge windows which line the entirety of 2 walls. A bar and standing area proceed the dining room, offering space for a cocktail gathering or standing reception. The restaurant is tastefully decorated with white linen, modern wood furniture and deep turquoise notes. The sliding glass doors offer access to the spacious roof terrace which runs the length of the building. There are heaters, furniture and best of all, panoramic views across Smithfield Market. No.3 at Smiths can be hired exclusively, with space for 200 standing or 80 seated guests.

A perfect venue for summer parties, office Christmas bookings and gala events. The space is ordained for marriage services, making this an amazing venue for weddings too. If you’re looking to hold a big event, the building can be booked in its entirety, with space for 500 guests.

Already impressed by the space, we were eager to sample their catering. We’re pleased to report that both food and service were impressive too. Our host, waitress and sommelier were warm, knowledgeable and very friendly, offering great menu suggestions and making us feel special. The dishes change seasonally, providing an excellent selection of British produce expertly prepared. We tried Orkney Scallops in an Asian inspired broth, plus a rich truffle duck egg with wild mushrooms. Both starters were fabulous, as were the mains. We sampled a meaty pork belly with a rich jus, charred onion and crisp crackling, made even better with the addition of triple cooked chips. The fresh Turbot was equally delicious, complimented with a silky herb sauce and spring greens. The cooking was great and accompanied by a varied and well-balanced wine list.

No.3 at Smiths is a great choice for a business lunch or a fun night out. As the temperatures rise, it’ll be a sought-after spot for summer parties, outdoor drinks and wedding receptions. If you’d like to book a venue with personality, space, quality and sunshine, contact Flavour Venue Search today.
