Favouring Andalusian sunshine over the Autumnal chill of London, we took a short break to research the spectacular Higuerón Hotel in the southern Spanish province of Málaga. Perfection isn’t a term we often use, but following our stay and an extensive tour, we’re convinced this is one of the most impressive multi-purpose resort hotels we’ve visited. Whether you’re planning a luxurious leisure break, a high-end conference, or something in between, this superior resort should be on your radar. Situated less than 30 minutes by rail or road journey from Málaga airport, nestled in the picturesque hills above Benalmadena and Fuengirola, this 290-bedroom property is easily accessible and well located. Boasting 6 excellent restaurants, incredible leisure facilities, an abundance of event and meeting spaces, plus tasteful communal spaces adorned with fabulous original artworks, the Higuerón Hotel Málaga is a dream venue!

EVENTS

The Higuerón is very well equipped to host all manner of corporate events, conferences, meetings, seminars, plus weddings and private events alike. A new wing was opened in 2020, boasting immense versatile event spaces and meeting rooms. An ante-chamber houses 2 magnificent Francisco Leiro sculptures in an airy communal space, with a collection of dedicated meeting rooms accessible from this area. Below is an ultra-modern space which can host up to 1,000 conference delegates, offering views across the Mediterranean gardens and pools. There are additional banquet rooms and restaurant spaces featuring private outdoor terraces, ideal for weddings and gala dinners. Privacy and soundproofing are offered by clever architectural design, and the wealth of original artworks and plush décor adds a feeling of quality for truly memorable events.

LEISURE

The leisure facilities at the Higuerón are first class. Their immensely sized gym contains state of the art Technogym equipment and features additional rooms for CrossFit, TRX training and a range of classes. There are Basketball and Padel courts, plus an Olympic standard volleyball beach. Their renowned Nagomi spa features an enormous hydro-pool, plus a sauna, steam room and a wide selection of treatment rooms. In addition to a sizeable indoor pool, there are two gigantic outdoor swimming pools, plus a stunning rooftop infinity pool featuring Balinese beds, poolside refreshment services and gorgeous sea views. The restaurants are sensational, ranging between Diego Gallegos’ Michelin starred Sollo, to the daring Japanese flavours of Akira and the pleasing Mediterranean plates at MED. We enjoyed an incredible meal at Arara, Gallegos’ Latin-American restaurant, which was one of the most delicious dinners we’ve eaten recently.
