Keen to cheer ourselves up from the wintry weather, we were searching for a dining experience with a difference to warm our hearts. Abd El Wahab in Belgravia offered just what we needed. Their pleasing blend of warm hospitality, welcoming ambiance and authentic Lebanese cuisine was exactly what we were looking for. If you’re planning a party, birthday celebration or private dining event, this venue should be on your radar too.
Abd El Wahab can be found on Pont Street, which is easily reachable by a short walk from Knightsbridge or Sloane Square stations. You’ll likely spot a few supercars along the way too. Abd El Wahab London is the first European venue for the brand. Established in Beirut in 1999, they’ve since opened in such prestigious Middle Eastern locations as Dubai, Qatar and Bahrain. Their restaurants embody the heart and generosity of the Lebanese people. Based on the enormous amounts of delicious, freshly prepared food we enjoyed, they’re a very generous bunch indeed.
Their fayre consists mainly of good quality meats and fresh vegetables, charcoal grilled and complimented by delicate herbs and spices. Our helpful host guided us towards some unmissable choices, ensuring our palettes and stomachs were left more than satisfied. The meal was served feast style, with an array of dishes arriving ready to be shared. This format is great for weddings, parties and gatherings of friends and colleagues. We loved the Batata Kazbra, crisply fried potatoes mixed with chopped garlic & coriander, plus fiery green chili. The fresh Fattoush salad was a healthy mix of greens, rocket, cucumber, sumac, radish and spring onion, with a zesty lemon dressing. The mixed grill Abd El Wahab was unmissable. A mountain of chargrilled shrimp, lamb cutlets, lamb and taouk which sizzled with juicy aromas. We barely had room for dessert, but an assortment of seasonal fruits offered a healthy and refreshing end to a beautiful dinner.
Abd El Wahab has plenty of event potential too. Their main dining space has unobscured views from front to back and seating for up to 100 guests, making it ideal for large family parties or corporate dinners. They also have a selection of semi-private spaces that can accommodate 26 seated or 40 standing guests. The spaces are decorated with a tasteful blend of deep woods and foliage, accentuated by Middle Easter rugs and colour. The staff were very warm and attentive, ready to ensure your event is an enjoyable success.
