To many, the West End is the beating heart of London’s nightlife scene. The neon lit streets are alive with vibrant people seeking a memorable evening. Our cosmopolitan city boasts a huge variety of quality bars, clubs and restaurants, some offering something a little different from the norm. One such venue is Momo on Heddon Street. We recently visited this Moroccan souk themed restaurant and were treated like royalty, leaving with contented bellies and fond memories of great hospitality.

Situated just off Regent Street, a short walk from Piccadilly Circus, Green Park or Oxford Circus stations, Momo enjoys a fabulous location. Open from lunchtime until late, we imagine it being the perfect spot for hungry shoppers and thirsty night owls alike. The décor is themed on an opulent Moroccan souk. Low padded banquets and plush lined chairs are placed among high ceilinged rooms with stone walls bearing Moorish patterns. The rooms are trimmed with dark woods, right down to the authentically North African bathroom doors. There’s a large, luxurious dining room with plenty of space for semi private dining, or larger events of up to 180 standing guests. There’s also an outdoor terrace for dining during the day and on fair evenings, plus a basement level private hire space for a variety of events.

The staff at Momo were warm and attentive. We were greeted with a barrage of smiles upon arrival and our charming, friendly waiter Tarik made us feel very welcome while guiding us through a menu of exotic North African cuisine. We loved the scrumptious quail pastilla, a heavenly marriage of sweet and savoury delivering delicately spiced poultry in a crisp filo case with a sweet nougatine lid. The couscous was near perfect. Tarik assured us we’d struggle to finish this course and he was almost correct. A generous bowl of feather light couscous came with a meaty side of flame grilled chicken thigh, lamb chop and succulent merguez sausage. This was supported by a rich broth of chunky root vegetables which brought a pleasing moisture to the dish. We also enjoyed a juicy monkfish tagine, which had the tastiest bits of freekeh burnt to the bottom of the clay pot. Our Eastern feast left us fit to burst and pleasantly satisfied.

Momo is a great choice for anyone seeking an event venue with a unique flair for exotic luxury and top-notch service. The high end Eastern décor will create a great first impression for your party guests, making this a top spot for drinks parties, standing events, corporate dining and private celebrations.
