Hush – A secret too good to keep
As venue finders, it’s essential for us to explore the finest establishments in order to make well informed recommendations to our clients (hard work, right?). 2020 got off to a great start with a visit to Hush. Established in 1999, this Mayfair favourite has been satisfying diners for decades. Nestled in a hidden courtyard near the stylish stores of Brook street, this 3-storey venue boasts a brasserie, 2 private dining rooms, a cocktail lounge and an outdoor dining space that’s heated for year-round use. Add great food and service to the mix and we have the recipe for a delicious experience.
We were given a tour of Hush and felt inspired by the versatility and enormous events potential of the venue. The tastefully decorated ground floor brasserie and elegant courtyard dining space were bathed in natural light, featuring plenty of space for large group bookings. Ascending to the first floor, we found the Aviator bar. This cocktail lounge has opulent 60’s styling and an extensively stocked bar managed by expert mixologists. We peered through a plush curtain to find Blades, a private room with space for up to 40 seated guests. The windows look towards Jimi Hendrix’s former apartment and the walls are lined with photographs of iconic rock stars and celebrities. This space oozes 60’s cool and is furnished with a light colour scheme. It would be a great choice for cocktail parties, birthdays and even intimate wedding celebrations.
We climbed the stairs to find the Sir Roger Moore private dining room, named in memory of Hush’s co-founder. This gorgeous self-contained space features a private bar, cloakroom and kitchen exclusively for event use. The room is equipped with a smart leather banquette and tables that can be configured for a variety of occasions. There’s seating space for 10-75 lucky dining guests, or the option to accommodate 100 standing guests for a private party. This beautiful room offers privacy and style and is certainly worth a look for special occasions.
In addition to its versatility and abundance of space, Hush scores highly for food too. We ate from their lunch menu and thoroughly enjoyed our dishes. The tuna tartare came delightfully fresh, with tangy ponzu and smooth avocado offering pleasing complimentary flavours. The stone bass fillet was also a treat, with a moreish saffron and clam sauce across a bed of spinach. Unable to resist the lure of hand cut chips, we added some and recommend that you do as well. Our tasty dishes were delivered by attentive waiting staff in a warm and vibrant ambiance.
If you’re in market for a stylish venue with great food and the space to accommodate a range of events, Hush should certainly be on your radar. Flavour Venue Search will gladly tell you more about this great venue and the many other beautiful restaurants we represent. Enquire today.
