The Flavour Venue Search team get very excited about new London venue openings, and we’ll gladly admit that when Wagtail opened, we were as hyped as kids at Christmas. Wagtail rooftop bar and restaurant launched in May 2022, so we cleared our calendars, pressed our fancy clothes, and managed to score an invite for June. Here’s what we thought of the venue (spoiler alert: It’s fabulous!).

Wagtail has managed to make its nest in the perfect location. Long term Londoners might remember the former House of Fraser store, which stood at the north end of London Bridge near Monument underground station. The two uppermost levels are now home to Wagtail rooftop bar and restaurant. The venue not only benefits from a vibrant City spot and excellent public transport options, it also has spectacularly stunning river and city views. These can be enjoyed from their naturally lit main restaurant, plus no fewer than two private terraces, a rooftop terrace bar, and a magnificent 360-degree view private dining room located in the cupola which crowns the building. If you like gazing across the Thames while sipping cocktails in salubrious, elevated surroundings, you’re going to fall in love with Wagtail.

We were given a venue tour to discover their stunning spaces first hand. Making our way from the top down, we started at the cupola. This exclusive 8-seater space features a round table, offering amazing views for every guest. It comes complete with cutting edge AV and perfect privacy. Private dining events and meetings in this room would be truly memorable. The top floor terrace bar has a 120-guest standing capacity. In addition to top notch views of London’s iconic skyline, luxurious touches such as heated seats mark this as a first-class space for cocktail parties and celebratory events. The East and West terraces also offer views of the Thames, The Shard, St Paul’s Cathedral, and other landmarks. Each can accommodate 60 standing, or 30 seated guests for private events, or combine them with restaurant hire for larger occasions. The stylish restaurant space was where our venue tour ended. We relaxed into chic, jade leather dining chairs and enjoyed a delicious tour of their menu too.

The menu at Wagtail marries modern European techniques with the best of British produce. A pleasing blend of locally sourced ingredients prepared to a high standard. We loved the refreshing langoustine gazpacho with tarragon oil, and the native lobster with Isle of Wight tomato was an explosion of freshness, flavour, and colour. The English grass-fed Sirloin with Duchess potato was a cut above, and there was a selection of plant based and gluten free options available. The venue offers breakfast until 11am, plus a feast menu created especially for private dining in the cupola. Wagtail also offers a special canape, sliders, and small bites menu for private events. Whatever the occasion, you’ll be well catered for.

In addition to being a real treat for us, our visit to Wagtail rooftop bar and restaurant unlocked a wealth of event opportunities for our clients. Beautifully luxurious rooftop venues in prime locations are always popular, and we’ve managed many enquiries and bookings at Wagtail since their opening.
