Fridays generally mean dressing down and an early finish for most Londoners. In the world of Mr & Mrs Flavour Friday means work, work, work. Fortunately, our work is all about discovering London’s coolest venues. So, I headed to Victoria for a fact-finding client lunch at the majestic Greenwood.

This mega-venue dwells within the Nova building at Victoria and is a mixture of pub, restaurant and sports lounge set across 2 giant floors. I certainly had my work cut out, in a good way of course. We met at the bar for a fizzy Friday Prosecco and a catch up on all things events related.
Following such a busy week, we deserved a hearty reward and I’d heard the food here was great. Apparently, I’d heard correctly! I was craving something crispy and opted for the Chilli squid with aioli. It was perfectly fresh and satisfying, even better with a chilled glass of Picpoul. My client was suitably impressed with her saucy Korean chicken wings with sesame seeds. I couldn’t help but take one from her plate, Mr. Flavour would have helped himself to a few more.

The menu has a tempting selection of pizza and burgers, but I’d heard Greenwood sources the freshest fish. With this in mind, I chose to tuck in to Teriyaki Salmon with broccoli, bean sprouts and red pepper. True enough, the fish was beautifully moist and tasted absolutely delicious. My companion enjoyed a Falafel burger with harissa, tahini mayo and grilled halloumi. She described it as being subtly seasoned with an exotic warmth. I’ll be trying that next time!

As a Friday treat, we decided to order the European cheese board, quince chutney and oats. We chose to forgo the obligatory port, opting instead for 2 naughty Espresso Martinis. They shake them just right at Greenwood!
With our hungers sated, we were given the grand tour of the establishment. The ground floor is made up of the main bar and lounge area, plus some swanky private spaces of varying sizes, available to hire privately. We headed upstairs to check out the Sports lounge, complete with shuffleboards, pinball machines, several TV screens and 2 American 8 ball pool tables. I still have a pool trophy at home and have shown Mr. Flavour who’s boss on many occasions. However, there was no time for pool today as work was calling. I can’t wait to come back to spend a lot more time at this exciting and versatile venue.
