Life as a venue finder certainly can be busy. Sourcing the finest venues and meeting the requirements of our clients certainly keeps us on our toes. It’s always a pleasure to enjoy some quiet time in this vibrant city. When the good people at the Dorchester invited us for afternoon tea, we jumped at the chance to experience this delightfully luxurious venue and enjoy a little down time. All in the name of work, of course.

The iconic Dorchester Hotel stands majestically on Park Lane, offering beautiful views across Hyde Park from many of its elegantly luxurious bedrooms and suites. Built in the 1930s, it has been historically favoured by royals and celebrities. Situated near Hyde Park Corner, Green Park and Marble Arch stations, The Dorchester is highly accessible and located in one of London’s most popular areas. A true haven of indulgence, the Dorchester boasts a selection of high-end restaurants, bars, function suites, a magnificent ballroom and of course, The Promenade, where we enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea.

The Promenade is set at ground level, near to the buzzing and opulently decorated lobby area. It has long been regarded as a special place to take skilfully prepared, decadent afternoon tea. Their well-practiced tea ritual hits all the key notes: Fine gourmet teas, dainty sandwiches, a generous, picture perfect selection of cakes and plenty of Champagne to wash it down with. Service is delivered in a warm, attentive manner befitting the luxurious surroundings. The scones were perfectly baked. Studded with yellow raisins and served warm with heavenly homemade jams and Cornish clotted cream, they were among the best we’ve tasted. We loved the spicy coronation chicken sandwiches and the Dorchester’s seasonal flower blend tea, which cleansed our palettes beautifully.

Feeling suitably relaxed and refreshed, we got to explore this spectacular building and familiarise ourselves with the many fantastic event spaces.  There’s a selection of elegant suites fitted for dining, gatherings or business meetings. Ranging from the discreet 12 seated boardroom, to the grandiose ballroom, with space for up to 1,000 guests to revel in 1930s art deco splendour. The Chef’s Table gives 12 lucky diners a front row view of the Dorchester’s expert chefs at work, providing a memorable private dining experience. We loved the opulently stylish Penthouse. Based on the enchanting ambience of Sleeping Beauty, this Oliver Messel designed space for up to 60 guests, including a stunning rooftop adorned with a magnificent water feature.

The Dorchester offers huge versatility and is a must-see venue for anyone wanting first class service, high end refreshment and timeless luxury to their event.
